- Set a reading goal – I am reading 24 books (two books a month) this year. I also want to check out one cookbook a month and try a new recipe.
- Choose a book about a topic that interests you – I love tea. I have always wanted to open my own cafe. I just started to read the Tea Shop Mystery series by Laura Childs
- Read a book that takes place in a location you have been or a place where you would like to go – Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham. This is a story in NYC.
- Pick a book that takes place during the current season – Every winter I have always wanted to read A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy. It takes place in Ireland and I have always wanted to go there.
I love photography.
I take photos every chance I get. I started out taking photos with a Nikon Coolpix L12 then I started using a Pentax K200D SLR. In July 2011, I bought my own SLR camera a Pentax K-r SLR.
I would love to study photography in college but it is so expensive. I have been teaching myself or taking small workshops. I took a Digital Photography SLR class in November 2012. I have been wanting to take another one but I can’t afford it. I might go back over all of my notes from the class and do the assignments on my own again.
I have always wanted to do food photography. I am always cooking and trying new recipes. I often take photos as a cook meals.
German Village is a historic neighborhood just south of Downtown Columbus.
I love visiting German Village. It is a beautiful place to visit. I look forward to going down to German Village. The houses are amazing. They are so old and beautiful. I have this cute hobby of looking at old homes. It doesn’t have anything to do with real estate. I love taking photos of old homes.
My favorite places in German Village:
Schmidt’s Restaurant und Sausage Haus – Schmidt’s is a German food restaurant in German Village. It can be busy on the weekends. They do not take reservations so get there early. You can always skip lunch and come there for an early dinner. I recommend the buffet where you can sample many of the foods all at once. My favorite meal is the German Meatloaf followed by their famous Cream Puff.
The Book Loft – The Book Loft is an awesome place to visit. It is a historic book store with 32 rooms of books. You can literally get lost in there. It is fun to grab a coffee and browse the 32 rooms of books.
The Golden Hobby Shop – The Golden Hobby Shop is located in an 1864 school house. They sell handmade items by local seniors.
Memphis is a city in the southwestern corner of the state Tennessee known as the Home of the Blues. It is known for BBQ, Graceland (home of Elvis Presley), Beale Street and Sun Studios.
I had an amazing time whenever I visited Memphis. I traveled there many times. My sister, her husband, the kids, and I would take yearly trips to Memphis to visit my Dad. We were able to go every year from 2005-2009.
- Memphis Zoo
- Beale Street
- Sun Studios
- The Peabody Memphis – home to the famous Peabody Ducks
- Gibson Guitar Factory
- Memphis Queen Cruise
Since Memphis is known for their BBQ, we would wanted to try a BBQ place for one meal each day we were there. Leonard’s Pit BBQ and Germantown Commissary were our favorites.
I have always loved Christmas 🙂
Christmas Traditions back then ...
Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. We would go to my Grandma’s (my dad’s mom) house and she would make her traditional dinner. My Great Grandpa, my Uncle, my Great Uncles, and many Cousins would be there. Before Christmas, my Grandma, my sister and I would make the sugar cut out cookies of trees, stars, bells, etc. I would sit at the kitchen table and watch my Grandma and great grandma cook Christmas dinner. I would say, “Grandma.” and both of them would say, “Which one?” 😀 Since my parents were divorced since I was 5, Christmas would be a busy time as well. I would have to go to my Grandma and Grandpa’s (mom’s parents) house and do Christmas there. Also, we would go to my Grandpa’s (my dad’s dad) house.
Grandma moved to Florida a while ago so we would make the Christmas dinner she used to make when I was little. Although, my sister has moved to Cleveland so we don’t get to do our Christmas dinner as often. But we did do it for a couple of years.
Christmas Traditions now …
Now, we go up to Cleveland to see my sister, her husband, my nephew and my niece, and my brother in law’s family. Dobby (My nephew named him) the Christmas elf visits and keeps an eye on my nephew and reports back to Santa whether or not he has been good or not. But, Dobby is veryyyy sneaky. He is in different places of the house every morning and you have to find him. On Christmas Eve night, he goes back to the North Pole to let Santa know if we have been good or not. After we open presents, We eat Christmas dinner at whoever’s house it is the current year.
